What made me smile? LiveSplendidly Guest Blog.

We call ourselves KaMoCo.  We have a common background and share a common desire – to deliver wellness activities for ladies through the Revive Wellness Retreat.

Our next one is coming up at the end of September (28-30) and if you haven’t experienced summer camp – ever, or if you really miss the fun you had at summer camp – you should consider this weekend away.  The following is a guest blog by Kathy Traptow.

Princess Pedal Road Clinic 2018

The Princess Pedal Road Clinic has been another wonderful experience.  With the help of my talented and enthusiastic assistant coach Princess Ashley, we have had the pleasure of working with another terrific group of ladies.

Princess Cylclocross who although cycled many years ago – had lost her mojo for riding.  Her re-awakened skills and new-found confidence in the saddle however has her itching to hit the road again.

Princess Leia who after a couple of years away from riding was looking for a group to ride with and a little instruction on the how-to’s of hills and pace-lines. Continue reading

They came. They rode. They conquered – more than they thought!

What a week it was.  Three Princesses, daily new adventures and so many tales.  The week began a little uncertain for me.  After our first ride, I thought we might have to alter some routes to match the skill and fitness in the group – but I was once again surprised and delighted by the courage and willingness of the Princesses to take on the challenges of the week.  No adjustments necessary and in fact, they wanted even more by the last day. Go figure.  Never underestimate the strength of a Princess.

If you spoke Continue reading

Princess Pedal Camp 2 – where do I begin?

We are about to embark on day 3 of Princess Pedal Camp #2 and my head is so full of stuff to write about I don’t know where to begin.

First – we are a small but mighty group of 3 (plus the two of us holding it together) but we are in no way without our stories.

Day 1 we undertook the technical skills required for riding both in the city and once we hit the open road.  The Princesses mastered the skills, nailing everything from the obstacle course to the parking lot ‘slow race’ after which we Continue reading

Princess Pedal Camp 1 – Departure Day

I can’t believe that the week has come and gone – and so have the Princesses.  What a week!  We tackled hills, wind, and sun.  The temperature was pretty well perfect all week and everyone got just the right amount of time in their saddles.  There was chatting, laughing, story-telling, retail therapy and of course some wine touring.  We went on rides that challenged us, but nothing that was insurmountable.  We definitely weren’t without a few memorable moments…

Princesses do ride – and explore retail therapy

Today the riding for the 2018 Princess Pedal Camp #1 began.  As always – everyone was a little nervous.  Some feeling a little uncertain that they were fit enough.  In the end – everyone was fine and fit enough.  At Princess Camp – we do what we can to keep everyone feeling comfortably uncomfortable.  Meaning – those that don’t like climbing or descending – or riding in a group – or in traffic – all get challenged just a little.  It’s a good thing, really.

We had a spectacular ride on the back roads Continue reading

R n’ R with Sweat Equity?

When was the last time you did something really great for yourself?  Something that not only filled your cup, but boosted your confidence, elevated your fitness and upped your game.

R ’n R and sweat-equity are not generally used to describe one thing in a single sentence but Princess Pedal Cycling Camps provide just that.  Imagine a week where your meals are prepared for you and the dishes are someone else’s job.  Then imagine 4-5 days of riding your bike on many of the quieter roads in the Okanagan valley with breath taking views of one of Continue reading

The Ripple-Effect

Have you ever been walking down the street or sitting on the train – and someone smiles at you because you are smiling?  Smile and the world smiles with you?  It’s something like that.

Sometimes we don’t realize how much affect we have on others.

When you have fun doing an activity and the result of doing so leads to more pleasure, broadened experiences and even perhaps – greater health outcomes – you want to share it with others.  You want them to experience what you have.  You want them to join you in your fun. Continue reading

Unintended Consequences

Have you ever decided to do something – just for yourself – something healthy or fun or invigorating – and discovered that there were some really great unintended consequences?

I’ve been watching the Olympics and as such, some unbelievable athletes.  The talent, work and dedication that it takes to compete at the Olympic level goes beyond what most of us can comprehend.  Two athletes come to mind when it comes to certain kind of unintended consequence.  Mark McMorris (Snowboard) and Denny Morrison (Speed Skating).

Mark McMorris had a catastrophic accident last year.  Denny Morrison was in Continue reading

Just doing something with that stuff.

I have just now realized that it has been many months since my last blog.  I could offer up all kinds of excuses, but suffice it to say that I don’t wish to produce just for the sake of producing.  It has however come to my attention that if I don’t get with it  – I might never do so… so here it is.  My re-foray into the world of blogging.

Stuff.  I have been grappling with the stuff that sits on my vanity by the sink in the bathroom that I share with my Continue reading
