Princesses take Vernon by storm

Princesses take Vernon by storm

Well actually, that’s not entirely true. It seems that the storm took Vernon and the Princesses. Day 1 on the much anticipated cycling exploration of the Vernon area was met with wet. We have nothing to complain about because just on the other side of the mountains in the Banff, Kananaskis and Calgary region it seems the storm was many times worse.

So, when it’s raining and you’d rather be on your bicycles – what do you do? Well you go for a warm-up hike and then go shopping, of course. Visit Our Farm – Planet Bee Honey Farm

The hike was a short one but one that afforded us some interesting vistas of the Kalimalka Lake region. From there it was a trip to Planet Bee for a little mead tasting and of course some retail therapy. Meanwhile, the rain continued to accumulate. The silver lining in this clouded scenario is that the Okanagan is getting some much needed moisture. Our fingers are crossed that this might mean that the wildfires of the past few years – will stay in history – and not repeat in 2022.

Day 2 the storm took a break and left us with dry roads and a lovely ride to Armstrong where we stopped for a little java and some nutrition at the Wild Oak Cafe. A busy little cafe with delicious food and wonderful service. The Wild Oak Cafe – Home | Facebook Anyway – if you’re interested in dropping in, you won’t be disappointed.

The ride to Armstrong from Vernon was exactly what we were looking for to test our cycling legs for the rest of the week. Tomorrow – ride to Lumby!

Until then, RideSplendidly!
