Princess Adventures 2016 – and that’s no Bull!

What a day.  The ladies were ready to roll and we were on our way at 8:29.  No flies on these Princesses, that’s for sure.

A big day on the agenda with a scoot down the east side of Lake Skaha including a short diversion onto McLean Creek road.  As we advanced – a fellow in a vehicle stopped to let us know that there was a bull on the road up ahead and that we should be aware.  Well, this wasn’t going to deter us – so we carried on thinking (ok,  hoping) that the bull would have moved off by the time we were to pass through the area.

Nope.  The Texas Longhorns were busy muching away on whatever cows eat – with one of them on the wrong side of the enclosure.  Our bad luck.  We couldn’t tell exactly how aggressive this bull would be – but we knew we were taking a risk.  I had visions of the Running of the Bulls and thought that even if this stretch were downhill, we might just get skewered.  So, we did what any group of Princesses would do – we sent Super Sue out first.  She was the fastest – and the best climber – so, it made sense.  Right?  Princess Wendy – who happens to know a little something about farm animals and who can likely be one the most observant people I know – confirmed after we were all past the bull – that the Bull was a Heifer.  Evidently our Bull had teates and well – that’s no bull!

After our wildlife encounter we proceeded to the Wall for a little uphill action.  Princess Phyllis (formerly – the Princess Virgin) challenged and pounded that hill flat.  The rest of the Princesses had “been there, done that” before and decided that they still didn’t enjoy that particular stretch of road very much.  From there we were chased by a dog, entertained by some newly trimmed  baby Alpacas, were fed lunch in Oliver and had a quick stop at Tickleberry’s.  Only our chief chef indulged in a little rum and raisin ice cream.  We miss our number one Piranah Princess – Carol who two years ago took the Tickleberry challenge and bought the 8  or 9 scoop ice cream cone.  Unbelievable.

Lessons learned on this particular ride include:

  • don’t believe everything your told – it could be that the person telling has no idea how to tell the difference between a boy and a girl cow
  • some rides get easier with time – and others don’t
  • don’t try HooHa cream for the first time on a long ride when you’re butt’s already tender and likely to be significantly more irritated by something new
  • one really ought to train more when one invites veteran Princesses to camp.  Ouch.

Gotta go.  Time to make breakfast!
