We finished the week with a truly spectacular day. It wasn’t just the route, but the weather, the general mood of the group and I believe, the friendships that were solidified. The route took us on some familiar roads with some new options introduced. A short visit to Williams Beach, a tour through Seal Bay, and a little coffee at the Comox Grind. S’s knee was causing him some grief, so he was on beer and snack duty for the end of the ride festivities. An honorable and important role to be in. He performed admirably.
These trips always leave me feeling very happy that our riders come together as strangers and so often leave as close friends. Shared experiences are one part of that but I think that shared experiences that include some physical struggle, weather challenges, and sometimes the odd mechanical issue brings people together to form some terrific bonds.
Thank you to my trusty partner and guide, Gord. Thank you to all the riders who put their trust in us to get them around the roads safely and back in one piece. Especially though, thanks to the new friends we’ve made and hope to see again soon.
Until next time.
