When the laws of physics translate perfectly.

Day 3.  And what a day it was.  After yesterday’s rainy skies we awoke to clear blue this morning.  Albeit a little chilly.  We drove to Comox Lake to meet our guide from Comox Valley Kayak and Canoes, Brenda – for a little paddle on the lake.  The winds were calm to start, so we were very comfortable paddling along the shore, exploring the lake from the kayaks. Brenda filled us in on the details of the area including some local lore about how the Comox Glacier came to be.  She guided us into a cool little creek before taking us back to the boat launch.  The wind had picked up a bit by the end, but by then it was all ‘old hat’ – so no one was too fussed.  We learned a valuable lesson that many of the gals from Princess Pedal experiences will recognize.  In a kayak – when things get a little rough – you’ll be more stable if you keep paddling.  Not at all different from ‘pedaling out of trouble’ on your bike.  You see, the physics are the same.

The day didn’t end there however.  Since we missed our planned ride yesterday, we hurried back to the hotel for a quick change and bite to eat before heading out for a 54km tour of the area.  A two-fer.  The wind was up, but we found that it wasn’t so bad.  A lovely fall day as we pedaled along Point Holmes, past Siefferts market which was loaded with pumpkins and sunflowers so big that the poor dears couldn’t hold their heads up!

Meandering through this area is a real pleasure.  Many, many twists and turns but beautiful to ride.  Cool in the trees, warm in the open spaces.

Looking forward to tomorrow, as always.
