Princesses, pedalling and Penticton – 2015

The Princess Pedal Camps are just under a week away as we prepare for the first Princesses to arrive.  Our journey west from Calgary over the weekend included an absolutely beautiful drive.  As we approached Penticton and we saw more cyclists along the way – I got more and more excited about a couple of weeks with some newly minted Princesses.  The sun is shining, the roads are in good shape and the time is ripe for riding!

The house that we stay in has seen a number if improvements over the past year.  It’s looking mighty fine in fact.  The location of the house allows for easy access to all of our planned routes – with either light traffic, wide streets or bike routes to get us out of town.

We are using this week to get organized for the Princesses.  There is much shopping to do to ensure gastronomic enjoyment is had by all – not to mention a little route scouting to ensure that we don’t have any construction closure surprises.  In all – it will be a busy but enjoyable week.

princess pedal 2.6The camps will consist of 4-5 rides (weather and fatigue-dependent) of increasing length.  The rides take us through the valley from Penticton, south and west through the hills surrounding us.  The roads are reasonably quiet with a few ‘main road’ interruptions but generally – bike friendly travels.  The riding environment is non-competitive and friendly.  The purpose of the camp is to learn a little (bike skills, flat tire changing, light bike maintenance) and enjoy a week where the only responsibility a rider has is to ride safely with other Princesses.

The food, expertly prepared by our camp chef Gord and his trusty assistant (me!), allows the Princesses ample opportunity to maximize their non-riding down-time to rest, recover and replenish – worry free.  Truly a lovely week for ladies interested in a stress-free active vacation.

Looking forward to the weeks ahead!  Stay tuned for regular updates.
