Wow. It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks and we can all hardly believe it’s over. The second week of Princesses has departed for home and are hopefully enjoying a safe drive back to Calgary.
Yesterday was very wet but we managed to sneak in a quick 40km ride down to OK Falls. Up and over McLean Creek Rd – both ways thanks to a suggestion by Princess Barb from week #1, made it a challenging but very do-able ride. The skies moved in on us on the way back and the Princesses were fortunate to experience riding in the heavy rain and discover that Princesses don’t melt. Hm. Oddly, they all appreciated it! The back spray from vehicles. The rooster tails from the rider in front. The water running down legs into shoes. The big puddles that you just couldn’t avoid. Expecting the unexpected – again – at Princess Camp.
Looking back over the past two weeks – I can’t help but feel good about what I saw unfold. Without getting too schmaltzy – suffice it to say that everyone got something out of the experience. Good friendships forged. Bicycle skills honed. Fitness developed and abdominal muscles toned (from the laughs). Women moving from apprehension about the week to embracing EFI (you know what we mean, right Princesses?).
Looking forward to future camps and clinic – I can’t help but feel excited in anticipation of being part of this experience again for future Princesses. The purpose of Princess Pedal is to help women to: develop their bike skills, increase their confidence and meet like-minded Princesses to do more riding. So far, so good – but more is better. Stay tuned for more Princess Adventures.
