On the eve of our 4th annual trek to the Okanagan Valley and Princess Pedal/LiveSplendidly cycling camps – I can actually – and finally say – that I’m excited. There is a lot of planning and coordinating when it comes to these camps so I tend to get caught up in the details – until we’re ready to hit the road or more accurately the rubber hits the road.
However, every minute that we spend with the riders is worth every minute spent on those preparatory details. In the week ahead of their arrival, we shop, bake, and prepare for their comfort and enjoyment.
What do I look forward to the most? I’m not sure that there is ‘one’ thing. I love that riders arrive a little nervous, a little excited but ready for some riding. What they don’t realize (unless they’ve been to camp before) is how well they will be looked after and how great the rides and routes are. From food and accommodations to support on the routes that we ride. There will be many moments of “ahhh”. However, make no mistake – the riders still have to ride their bikes. There is sweat equity without question – but the vistas and roads and hills that we climb are spectacular.
All I hope for is that everyone takes each day as it comes and enjoy what the wonderful surroundings of the Okanagan Valley can offer.
Until then, LiveSplendidly!
