Where do I begin?

The past two days has been a bit of a blur.  So much so that I sat down to write after our first day and couldn’t remember a single thing from the day – other than the obvious.  We have spent a fair amount of time laughing about a variety of things from Princesses with ‘issues’ and ‘special needs’ to the benefits and drawbacks of lipstick and V-control (whatever THAT is, Sugoi).

On the meal front, I really thought that the Piranha Princesses of 2014 might never be challenged, but I have been proven incorrect!  The Princesses of 2017 have given those gals a run for their money.  They were a little less direct than this but at one point during tonight’s dinner while I was providing some important information about tomorrow’s ride – I might just as well have been told to ‘shut up and pass the food’.  Really!  They kept me talking so that there wasn’t a grain of rice, shred of chicken or morsel of mango left by the time I finished.  I think they liked it.

Monday we took a ride out to the painted rock a little past Naramata after our skills session.  As you can see, someone conveniently painted the rock with the Princess colors.  Nice of them to do this for us.  A little tire changing and basic maintenance session after lunch – the Princesses were able to relax on the deck and enjoy a beverage before dinner.

Yesterday’s event included a trip up “the Wall” and along Green Lake Rd where we discovered a sizable ‘herd’ of turtles sunning on a log on Green Lake.  A redeeming feature after challenging the Wall.  That darn hill doesn’t get any easier.

What I’ve learned so far is that Princess Linda is a bit of a speed demon and can climb with the best of them.  Princess Heather has some incredible determination – and just about the heaviest bike I think I’ve encountered. Princess Kim has some hidden cycling talent that is being unleashed each day. Princess Cathy, who claims to not enjoy the descents seems quite able to ride both up and down the hills and Princess Sandy both gets stronger every year and has a never ending litany of funny stories to tell.

They’ve conquered The Wall and descended Seacrest.  They’ve eaten lunch at the side of the road and changed a tire.  They’ve learned to pedal in a pace line and recover from a dropped chain.  Today they climbed toward Apex Ski Resort but you’ll have to wait for the stories from that ‘little’ ride.

Onward!
