It’s never too late to try something new.

In 2008 I decided that I needed to try something new every year.  Since then, I’ve learned to SCUBA Dive and ride a motorcycle.  I’ve taken up downhill & cross country skiing and golfing, again.  I’ve started my own business in earnest and have learned how to use social media in the process.  I’ve challenged myself with travel and have been to countries quite outside of my comfort zone and even tried red hair for a spell.

This year, I’m going to Camp.  Yep.  As a kid I never went to go to Camp because we vacationed in our camper as a family – so never saw the need and quite honestly – never had the desire.  Oddly, I’ve never been all that comfortable in the environment that I would consider to be ‘group-think’.  I was never a Brownie or Guide.  I tried to be an Explorer one year – and didn’t really enjoy it.  So, Camp… well, not really my thing.

UNTIL…

We visited Camp Kindle at Water Valley to see if this year’s Revive Retreat could be held there.  With my heart in my throat and butterflies in my belly – thinking that I wouldn’t really be into this whole idea – we toured the facilities.  To my amazement, I started to get really excited about spending a weekend with a group of gals who were up for a little fun, recreation and adventure.  High ropes? YES!  Archery? Wahoo! Bonfires and S’mores (something else I’ve never had or at least remember having … but that’s a whole other story), great!  Am I scared? Yes.  Will it challenge my comfort zone?  Yep.  Will it satisfy the goal to do something new every year?  You bet it will.

Looking forward to this opportunity to revisit some childhood games and have a little ‘out there’ kind of fun!  Wanna join me?
