I am happy to report that the Princess Camp 2 is underway and doing just fine. All Princesses arrived in their respective chariots – navigated by – as you would guess – Princess Power… in time for dinner and a chance to get acquainted.
After breakfast today we dove into some bike maintenance followed by a skills clinic and a ride to Naramata. I was thinking I might be in trouble when these Princesses nailed the skills from the start. No skills-issues here! Our ride to Naramata started with a fairly relaxed pace… lead by me for a time … followed by me trailing the group going into to the sleepy town. Not a problem, I told myself… until our trip home demonstrated a pace that I was just able to maintain AND the Princesses were right on my tail! Eeeeck. I think this week might be a challenge for me … No, really. I’m a little worried!
Princess Wendy S has a score to settle on one hill tomorrow. The Wall. Once she has accomplished that, she will be one happy camper!
Princess Joanna is finding her legs. Cycling is a new adventure and she is handling herself quite nicely. Once she nails the downhills – look out!
Princesses Wendy P and Vicki are treating themselves to a week away, with one another and away from the regular routine. I’m honored to be part of a reunion between friends. Both “claimed” to be coming to camp unfit but as I said earlier – I haven’t seen a lot of evidence of that yet!
With the new camp underway and Princesses slowly getting used to the “house rules” (as in… not allowed to lift a finger… no cooking, no cleaning dishes, just pedaling). Life is good!
