As the week winds to a close, there is much to appreciate and reflect upon. The final ride yesterday was really terrific. An easy ride south along Skaha, through OK Falls and on to Oliver with a little diversion south of Oliver through vineyards and orchards. The day was stunning.
The total day’s accomplishment was 93kms. The headwind on the return trip made for a bit of a challenge, but the newly acquired pace line skills made for an easier trip for everyone. A little stop at Tickleberry’s for ice cream provided a boost as we headed for home.
Princess MC entertained us with songs from The Doors, The Eagles, John Fogerty and many more. I lost track and got shot off the back a few times as she hammered up the hills past all of us. But, let’s be clear… it became obvious that I would lead from the rear, fairly early on. That didn’t change!
Princess Sandy demonstrated what “low battery” looks like. Given her ‘go-get-em’ energy and ability to tell the most entertaining stories – me thinks she might experience ‘low battery’ on occasion.
Princess Jane. Decidedly ‘stealth’ in every way. Just when you thought you were by yourself – Princess Jane would steal along beside you (or break into song with MC when opportunity arose). Always willing to pull the group along, it was easy to sit in behind her to take a breather.
Princess Zenny just kept motoring along. Sore ribs and all. She managed a full 75km yesterday, finishing with a smile on her face and enough energy to pick yet another bowl full of cherries at the end of the day.
Our yoga session with Rose at Reflexions Yoga Studio was absolutely perfect. A wonderful end to a healthy, active week.
The week was full of new discoveries and pleasant surprises. The Princesses are fitter, tired and contented from their efforts. They are all more confident in their saddles and keen to get together to ride more back in Calgary. The whole purpose of the Princess Pedal Camps.
Bon Voyage ladies!
